Privacy policy

Oddsplainer collects as little personal data as possible. You can use the whole site without an account, and we don't ask for your name, email or payment details.

Who we are

The site is run by [Operator name], [Postal address] (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us about privacy at hello@oddsplainer.com. Our UK representative under Article 27 UK GDPR is [UK representative name, address, email].

What we collect and why

  • Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider records technical data when you visit: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use it to keep the site secure and working (our legitimate interests). Logs are deleted after 30 days.
  • Your country. Our hosting provider works out which country you're in from your IP address. We use it, without storing it, to decide whether we may show bookmaker links where you are, and to keep the site unavailable in countries where we can't offer it (our legitimate interests and legal obligations).
  • Bookmaker link clicks. When you click a bookmaker link, we record which bookmaker, which match and which bet the link was for, the page you came from and the time. We don't record your name, IP address or any account details, although our hosting provider's logs of the same visit may include your IP address. We use this to understand which content is useful and to reconcile commission with our partners (our legitimate interests), and delete it after 30 days.
  • Settings in your browser. Your age confirmation is stored on your own device, not sent to us. See our cookies page.
  • Emails you send us. If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and keep them for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

We don't sell personal data, and we don't use it for automated decisions about you.

Third parties

  • Hosting. Vercel Inc. hosts the site and processes server logs on our behalf.
  • Stadium images. Some stadium photos load directly from our data provider's image servers (media.api-sports.io), which will see your IP address, as with any image on the web.
  • Bookmakers. When you follow a link to a bookmaker, you leave our site. The bookmaker may set its own cookies to recognise that you came from us. Their privacy policy applies from that point.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it in a portable form. Email hello@oddsplainer.com. Because we hold so little, we may need details such as the date and time of your visit to find anything.

You can object at any time to processing based on our legitimate interests.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk.

Children

This site is for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data about anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change how we use personal data, we'll update this page and the date below.
